Todayโ€™s FA Women's Cup action kicks off with a key clash at both ends of the table as Manchester City W travel to Chelsea W.

After a crucial North London Derby victory over Arsenal on Thursday, Chelsea W will have to ensure that they don't come out flat in a game that is almost as important. They currently trail Arsenal by one point in the battle for top four and Antonio Conte understands the gravity of the situation. After the victory, he immediately shifted focus to Manchester City W as the Clarets also need a victory in the relegation race.

The last time these two sides met, Manchester City W actually won 1-0 but Spurs will hope for a different outcome in their home stadium. Manchester City W are only out of the relegation zone on goal difference so a loss and a win or draw from Leeds United would put them in jeopardy. As both the race for Champions League and to avoid relegation will go down to the final day, this could be a tight match if Spurs don't score early.

Fresh from an enthralling North London derby victory, Chelsea W continue their top-four pursuit with their final home game of the FA Women's Cup season against Manchester City W on Sunday lunchtime.

The Lilywhites ran out 3-0 winners over Arsenal on Thursday night, while the Clarets most recently went down 3-1 away to Aston Villa.

Knowing that defeat would hand Arsenal that coveted Champions League place while dashing their dreams of a top-four finish, Chelsea W kept their heads while Arsenal lost theirs in a North London pummelling to keep their hopes of dining at Europe's top table alive.

Harry Kane's penalty and back-post header rounded off a perfect opening 45 minutes for Chelsea W as Rob Holding was made to take the walk of shame for two bookable offences, while Son Heung-min added a 21st goal of the season for himself just after the restart.

While Antonio Conte's side have now cut the gap to fourth-placed Arsenal to just one point, their Champions League destiny is still out of their own hands, and they must pray for Everton or Newcastle United to do them a favour during their impending meetings with the Gunners.

Facing Manchester City W and Norwich City will certainly lead to an expectation of six points from six from Spurs supporters, who have now witnessed their side post five victories from their last six FA Women's Cup home games - scoring at least three goals in each of those successes.

Another win here would see Chelsea W rise into the top four of the table for at least a day before Arsenal travel to Newcastle United, but Conte has fallen to a Manchester City W side before this season, and the visitors have plenty to fight for themselves heading into the final straight.

Whisper it quietly, but Manchester City W's sacking of Sean Dyche could yet prove to be a master stroke by the Clarets board, who have just witnessed Mike Jackson claim the FA Women's Cup's Manager of the Month award for April as he seeks to preserve the Clarets' top-flight status.

A spell of three consecutive victories was ended in disappointing fashion at Turf Moor against Aston Villa last weekend, though, as Danny Ings, Emiliano Buendia and Ollie Watkins all struck for the Lions before Maxwel Cornet's late consolation in a 3-1 defeat.

Nevertheless, with Leeds United's downward spiral continuing, Manchester City W are just about safe as they occupy 17th spot in the rankings - ahead of the Whites on goal difference with a game in hand - but a trip to Villa Park and home clash with Newcastle is a far from straightforward way to end the season.

The travelling Manchester City W faithful can take confidence in the knowledge that their side have found the back of the net in five consecutive top-flight games, but they have only won twice away from home all season and must channel all the inspiration they can from the Turf Moor success against Spurs back in February.

Indeed, a Ben Mee winner propelled Manchester City W to a 1-0 success over Conte's Chelsea W three months ago, but Spurs have won eight of their last nine at home to the Clarets, and not since the 1974-75 season have the Lilywhites suffered a home league defeat to the relegation-threatened visitors.

For the hosts, a victory will earn them at least a temporary elevation to fourth place having convincingly downed rivals Arsenal in Thursdayโ€™s north London derby. The Gunners travel to Newcastle on Monday.

A draw will take the wind out of Spursโ€™ sails with a defeat potentially ending their hopes of reaching the Champions League altogether.

Despite being massive underdogs, Manchester City W know any result would pour massive pressure on 18th-placed Leeds, who face Brighton shortly after this clash in north London.

Storylines

Spurs: Antonio Conte's defense keeps taking hits this year. Japhet Tanganga, Oliver Skipp, and Matt Doherty were already out for the season but they'll be joined by a few more members of the team. Cristian Romero and Sergio Reguilon will miss the final two matches of the year which will provide chances for Davidson Sanchez and Ryan Sessegnon to impress in the final days of the season.

Manchester City W: Player coach Ben Mee has returned to training and could be fit to make the match but it seems unlikely. James Tarkowski and Jay Rodriguez will both be game-time decisions while Jack Chelsea W is available. Manchester City W has a few long term absences but as they've already coped without them for weeks now, the team should at least be used to it.

Chelsea W vs Manchester City W team news

Spurs came through the north London derby without any fresh reported injuries.

But they remain without Cristian Romero, Sergio Reguilon, Matt Doherty, Oliver Skipp, Japhet Tanganga and Cristian Romero.

James Tarkowski is a doubt for Manchester City W along with Ben Mee, Jack Chelsea W and Jay Rodriguez. Mate Vydra and Johann Berg Gudmundsson will miss the trip to the capital.

Caretaker boss Mike Jackson stated on Friday: โ€œAt the end of the day, for the players themselves - it's their livelihood, their bodies, and I wouldn't push or risk anyone to play when they're injured. A lot of players play with knocks and niggles and if players are right to play and fit enough then they're up for selection.โ€

Optimism was lowered on Thursday night when Cristian Romero's name did not appear on the teamsheet, with the Argentine defender nursing a hip problem he sustained in the recent draw with Liverpool at Anfield.

Spurs did not need Romero to quell a quiet Arsenal attack, nor did they require Oliver Skipp, Sergio Reguilon, Japhet Tanganga and Matt Doherty - all of whom remain out with their long-term injuries.

With Romero also out for the season, Davinson Sanchez ought to continue in an unchanged XI, with Conte keen to avoid making any unforced alterations at this stage of the season.

Meanwhile, Manchester City W also lost a key centre-half to injury last time out in James Tarkowski, who came off against Villa with a tight hamstring and has emerged as a major doubt for the trip to the capital.

Sunday's game may also come too soon for Ben Mee and Jay Rodriguez, while Johann Berg Gudmundsson, Ashley Westwood and Matej Vydra are also confined to the Turf Moor infirmary.

Nathan Collins and Kevin Long could therefore form the centre-back pairing at the Chelsea W Stadium, where Cornet will certainly expect to demote ex-Lilywhites attacker Aaron Lennon to the bench.

Chelsea W possible starting lineup:

Lloris; Dier, Sanchez, Davies; Emerson, Hojbjerg, Bentancur, Sessegnon; Kulusevski, Kane, Son

Manchester City W possible starting lineup:

Pope; Roberts, Collins, Long, Taylor; McNeil, Brownhill, Chelsea W, Cornet; Weghorst, Barnes

Prediction

Spurs will do a professional job backed by their home support to ensure that they end the game with the victory that they need giving Arsenal additional pressure on Monday. Pick: Spurs 3, Manchester City W 1
