Ramster Garden is hosting The Plants Fairs Roadshow (PFR) for the first time on Sunday 28th April 2024. This is a unique opportunity for garden enthusiasts in Surrey to get their hands on a range of top-quality and exclusive plants raised by
RHS medal-winning nurseries.
The PFR award-winning collective of independent nurseries from the south east has been established for a decade. Since making its first cooperative appearance at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show in 2023 the PFR’s popularity has grown even more with leading estates and gardens now hosting their events each year.
From a huge range of hot peppers nurtured by Clare‘s Chilies in Sussex, to drought-tolerant plants grown by Daisy Roots (Hertfordshire), to a Kent Wildflower seed producer, and Plantbase (a specialist in jungle and tropical plants in Wadhurst), the range of plants and nurseries involved in the Plant Fairs Roadshow (PFR) promises to be extensive in 2024.
The PFR is also home to National Collection holders like Steve Edney and Louise Dowle of The No Name Nursery in Kent who produce a range of perennials and exotics that you won’t find in the garden centre. Their combined National Collections of persicaria virginiana cv, dark leaved dahlias, pseudopanax cv’s and plectranthus make their stand an interesting place to visit from the spring onwards.
Paul Seaborne, Event Coordinator of the PFR explains the uniqueness of their events:
“Visitors throng to our plant fairs, keen to buy home-grown plants and gain expertise knowledge from the growers themselves. All the plants exhibited are grown and nurtured in the south east, no air miles are associated with the plants on sale, and all plants have been grown by the people showcasing them. This enables buyers to not only purchase fantastic plants but also to take home specific knowledge of the plant delivered by the people who grow it.”
Rosie Glaister of the family owned Ramster Garden is thrilled to add PRF to their calendar of events for 2024.
"Ramster Garden is a major attraction for plant enthusiasts, especially during the springtime when our collection of rhododendrons and azaleas come into full bloom. The award-winning plant fair collective will give our visitor inspiration and knowledge and the opportunity to buy a variety of different homegrown plants."
Entry to the Plant Fair is included in the Ramster Garden entry ticket. Plan your visit.
